When to call us.

People arrive here in one of two states. Something has gone wrong and needs handling, or nothing is wrong but something could be considerably better. Both are good reasons to call, and they need different conversations.

Reactive

Something has gone wrong

Usually urgent, usually with a date attached, and usually discovered later than anyone would have liked.

  • A critical employee, developer or provider has left
  • A system is unstable, unsupported, compromised or failing
  • A migration or implementation has stalled
  • Documentation is missing and knowledge sits with one person
  • Systems no longer talk, or no longer produce reliable data
  • A legacy platform is blocking change but looks impossible to replace
  • A vendor relationship or difficult transition is holding the business back
  • Staff have adopted disconnected tools with no governance
  • A security, compliance, downtime or data-loss event has forced action
  • Repeated attempts, products or temporary fixes have failed
Progressive

Something could be better

No emergency. Usually someone has looked at how the business runs and concluded it could run considerably better.

  • Leadership wants to adopt AI or automation responsibly
  • Growth is creating pressure on hiring, consistency and systems
  • You want to compete with larger organizations
  • Management wants better data, reporting and decision support
  • Customer or employee self-service is becoming necessary
  • A new leader or owner wants to modernize the business
  • You want continuous improvement beyond routine IT support
  • Teams want to reduce repetitive work and increase capacity
  • You’re preparing for expansion, investment, acquisition or sale

What usually turns out to be true.

The diagnosis is frequently different from the request.

It isn’t a software shortageMost organizations have plenty of software. They have fragmentation, poor implementation and no owner.
The assumed answer is bigger than neededA larger platform, a custom rebuild, another tool, more staff — often none of these.
The cheaper answer existsConfigure what you own, improve the data, connect two systems, document it, train people, prove a workflow first.
The process is the problemAutomating a bad process makes it faster and no better.

We create value by challenging the assumed solution, understanding the actual business condition, and selecting an approach based on fit, impact, risk, cost and long-term manageability. Sometimes the right decision is to wait. Sometimes it’s to simplify. Sometimes it’s to stop something altogether.

Neither, exactly.

A perfectly normal third state.

Plenty of people get in touch without a defined problem. Something feels harder than it should be, a number doesn’t look right, a process everyone complains about has never been examined, or a board has asked a question nobody can answer. You don’t need a scope, a selected platform or an approved budget to have that conversation — working out what’s actually worth doing is the first part of the job, not a prerequisite for starting it.
