DARWIN

Launch, drift, decay, rebuild. Every site follows the same curve, and it isn't a design failure — it's what happens when websites are bought as projects. DARWIN takes the site off that cycle.

What it is.

DARWIN owns the web and e-commerce layer under a fixed monthly fee: design, development, new pages, conversion optimisation, technical SEO and AIO, performance, hosting, security and accessibility. The site changes every month in response to data rather than being reinvented every three years.

The important boundary is what it doesn't do. No campaigns, no content strategy, no blogging, no social, no paid media. That's your marketing team's work, and DARWIN is designed to work alongside them rather than compete for it.

Agencies tend to be relieved rather than threatened. They stop being blamed for page speed and stop waiting weeks on a landing page. No referral fees move in either direction, so neither side has a reason to encroach on the other.

It launched quietly to existing clients as AliveSites and was renamed DARWIN in 2026, because the name describes the argument better. Gradual adaptation beats periodic reinvention, and what survives isn't the strongest — it's the thing that keeps adjusting.

DARWIN is a program of AliveCommerce. Agreements and invoicing are issued by AliveCommerce.

Whether it fits.

Written both ways, because the second list saves more time than the first.

DARWIN is probably right if

  • You've rebuilt the site more than once and expect to again
  • There are pages nobody on the team can edit
  • The site no longer reflects what the business sells
  • You have a marketing team or agency who need a working platform
  • Accessibility was achieved once and has since lapsed

It probably isn't if

  • You want campaigns, content or paid media — that's an agency's work
  • You need a one-off build with a fixed launch date
  • Your site is new and genuinely fine — come back in a year
  • You want the cheapest possible maintenance plan

How it relates to a project.

AliveCommerce builds sites as projects, including complex B2B commerce and AODA compliance work with deadlines. DARWIN owns a site continuously. A build then a handover to DARWIN is a common sequence.

The layer × engagement grid on how we work lays out the whole structure if you'd rather see it on one page.
