AliveCommerce  /  About

Nearly twenty years in the space between systems.

We build and manage the software, processes and paperwork that industrial and service businesses run on. Vendor-agnostic by structure rather than by claim — we take no commissions from anyone, which is why we can afford to tell you to buy nothing.

How we got here.

Four moves, over nearly twenty years. The third one is the reason the company looks the way it does.

01

We started as builders

Software development, process automation and optimisation consulting, a digital growth and web practice, and a sales capability — businesses that merged over time into one company, bringing some proprietary technology with them that we still use where it genuinely fits.

02

The projects went well

Migrations, integrations, custom builds, delivered on budget. More than 2,000 of them for more than 500 organizations, from SOHO and startups through to Fortune 1000 operations.

03

Then we watched them decay

A year or two later, a lot of that work had quietly stopped delivering. Not because it was built badly — because nobody owned it afterwards. A migration finishes and the system drifts. A site launches and diverges from the business. Documentation is written for an audit and never touched again.

The work kept ending at exactly the point where the value needed maintaining.

04

So we rebuilt the company around that

Projects where a project is right. Programs where a layer needs an owner. Transformation engagements where the point is to leave capability behind rather than a deliverable. And a commercial model that doesn’t pay us more for recommending more.

Why we work this way.

AliveCommerce started as a custom development and business process consultancy, and for most of its life that's what it was: defined projects, scoped and delivered, for companies in manufacturing, distribution, logistics and the trades.

What became obvious over those years is that the projects were rarely the problem. A migration would go well and then decay, because nobody owned the system afterwards. A site would launch and drift. Documentation would be written for an audit and never updated. The work kept ending at exactly the point where the value needed maintaining.

So we built programs for the parts that don't end. Champion1 owns the application layer. LiquidIQ handles knowledge, process and the physical work nobody else will come and do. DARWIN owns the web layer. Same company, same team, same address — named separately because they're genuinely different products with different buyers.

The through-line is the commercial structure. Under a fixed monthly fee we make no more money by doing more work, and on projects we take no commission from any platform we recommend. That isn't a value we're asserting. It's an arrangement, and you can check it.

We're a division of a private Canadian corporation, operating as AliveCommerce. Agreements and invoicing bear that name, and everything we do is delivered from Toronto across Canada and the United States.

Capability, not captivity.

The objective isn’t to eliminate reliance on us. It’s to eliminate involuntary dependence.

On a transformation engagement we move through four positions. Clients who stay, stay because it keeps creating value — not because their systems, accounts or knowledge are held somewhere they can’t reach.

01
Driver’s seatWe run it. You see how it’s done.
02
Passenger seatYour team takes the wheel. We’re beside them.
03
Back seatThey run it. We handle escalations and the hard calls.
04
Optional checkpointsYou call us when something new comes up.

Systems are built in your accounts and billed to you. You hold administrative access throughout — domains, cloud accounts, tenants, repositories, documentation and credentials. We leave behind understanding, not black boxes.

Who we're not for

  • Businesses wanting the cheapest possible hourly rate. We don't bill that way and we'd lose that comparison on purpose.
  • Anyone whose problem is networks, endpoints or laptop support. That's an MSP, and a good one is worth more than we'd be.
  • Companies looking for campaign execution, content or paid media. We don't do it and we work alongside agencies who do.
  • Organisations that want a vendor to agree with decisions already made. Objectivity is the product; if it isn't wanted, we're the wrong choice.
  • Very early-stage businesses. Under about fifteen people, a tight defined piece of work usually beats anything we'd propose ongoing.
THE RIGHT FIT MATTERS

You know how we think. Now tell us what you’re working through.

Bring us the challenge, the stalled initiative, or the opportunity you haven’t fully defined. We’ll give you an honest perspective on what makes sense, what doesn’t, and the best way forward — with no pressure and no predetermined solution.
